History & Company Profile

Mr. Mirza Abid Husain, a ‘Zamindar’ from Lucknow set foot on the soil of Calcutta to explore the possibilities in business during early 1930’s. In his endeavor he started a finance company and forged relationship with Tea Business Houses in Calcutta. Soon realizing tremendous potential in tea exports he promoted his own export company by the name Jhon Tea Company. He mastered the skill of tea tasting which became the prime factor for the success in tea business.

His youngest son Mr. Mirza Mahmood Husain inherited the tasting skills and expertise from his father and promoted his own company by the name Golden Tea Centre in Lucknow during the year 1970. Since then the growth of the endeavor has been phenomenal and presently Golden Tea Company once specializing primarily in retailing of loose tea and catering to thousands of tea connoisseurs in U.P. India, has branched out into multi-faced tea related activities. Diversification from retailing to packaging was but a natural process after which the company took to Marketing of the Finest Indian Tea's in a wide range of attractive, handcrafted gift packaging.

Mr. Mirza Mahmood Husain sits at the helm of the corporate and with age old experience and sagacity that he commands and leads the business family towards the way forward. Today Golden Tea Company is a fast expanding tea house with over and ever increasing retail base of ten thousand consumer outlets that retail the company’s popular brands. The company is also fast growing exclusive retail outlets vending fresh teas as well as tea accessories. Under the able leadership of Mr. Mirza Mahmood Husain the company now sells finest tea blends to the tune of 100 million rupees annually.

Director: Mr. Adil Mahmood

Mr. Adil Mahmood, a commerce graduate from Calcutta University, took professional training in Tea Tasting and Blending at Carritt Moran & Company Ltd, Calcutta. With years of experience in tea business, he is a master in tasting and blending that has fructified in the creation of master tea blends that millions of tea lovers relish. Under the aegis of Mr. Adil Mahmood the company has gained repute for its unique tea blends that help retain and increase major chunk of market share in the tea world.

Director: Mr. Mansoor Mahmood

Mr. Mansoor Mahmood, an MBA from Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) joined family business after taking valuable experience in Sales and Marketing at AMUL. He pioneered the company’s foray into packaged tea, a venture that paid rich dividend and added to the fast growing bulk tea and retail business. Mr. Mansoor Mahmood is also responsible for latest initiative Golden Tea Shoppe – a franchise retail model promoted by the company. He tends to the financial matters of the company as well.
